70's Flare
Hey, hey yall!
Can I first say how much I've missed you all! I haven't had much free time to roam blog or twitter land, and I've definitely missed you all so much, I will definitely be trying to get back to my normal schedule soon!!! I only posted twice last week and I felt so bad to only hit you all with a little something, but the weather here has been absolutely...well I'll just say ugh! It has really felt like fall around here! We've gotten rain almost ever day and the temps dropped nearly 30 degrees! Whoa I think we all have been having some pretty interesting weather thanks to Irene!
My hectic schedule hasn't allowed me to much with my non-cooperating hair, so I knew I would wear a scarf in some way on my head today! So I built my outfit around this awesome animal print scarf from old navy!
I wore this outfit on yesterday to the International Fuller Woman Expo, remember I posted about the event here.
So, a little about the Fuller Woman Expo, well I made it there pretty late but I told myself I would go and so I was going to make it! I made it in time for the Curves in Motion Fashion Show. It was great seeing all the beauties strut in the show! There were a few things I really liked and there were so many great designers represented in the show! Rep for the thick girls!!!
Comedian Erica Watson mc'd the fashion show and was hilarious! Mia Amber Davis was remembered by a very touching presentation as well as a great solo singer it was very touching to say the least! She was truly a beautiful gem, gone too soon...but I can't say that because God makes no mistakes!!!
At the end of the show they held a competition of ladies from the crowd to give their best runway strut for a $100 gift certificate to an online shoe store and guess who won! Yes, ME! Yup, I raised my hand and offered to "do my thing on the catwalk". Once I got up front I was NERVOUS! But once I started to walk all nerves were calmed and I just worked my turban and these flares out! LOL! It was so much fun! I still cannot believe I got up there and did that! Something you may not know, I dabbled with plus modeling a few years back but I never did a fashion show so "walking" was new to me. I did a few shoots, I just might share a few of my pics with y'all one day!
Hearing the cheers from everyone made me definitely wanna WERK it out! LOL!
These pants were also a purchase from Old Navy, for less than $20 bucks! I have been looking for a pair of wide leg jeans and these didn't disappoint! For my 5"3.5' frame these pants were quite long and covered my heels which of course is an added bonus for flares! For me though I do feel they were about a quarter of an inch too long, but I still really like them nonetheless, they are actually quit comfortable! I had totally forgotten about Old Navy until I saw Toya of the Gray Pastel post about her awesome flares.
Yesterday, was also my big sisters bday so I headed over her house after for her party! My family is super silly and its always a great time hanging out with them! My sister is a character and she definitely had a great time! There was plenty of food, fun and laughs a great night!
