Armed + Dangerous: Love is Sacrifice
I'm really enjoying sharing my experiences from the Joyce Meyer conference that I attended last month. If you missed my recaps please go here and here and get caught up.
I share in hopes these posts speak to your heart as they have spoken to mine.
Above all things have intense and unfailing love for one another, for love covers a multitude of sins [forgives and disregards the offenses of others]. 1 Peter 4:8
So many times we are caught up the way love should make us feel that we forget that love is the ultimate sacrifice. Jesus paid the ultimate price when He bore our sins on the cross.
Love means sacrifice:
Joyce reminded us that we should love as Jesus did, we must help others, sow seeds and do what God tells us to do. We should practice acts of kindness and love and forgiveness even when we don’t want to, even when we may feel others don’t deserve it. Remembering that no one truly deserves Gods love no, not even you!
Remember, they persecuted, lied on and talked about Jesus so surely there will be times in our less than perfect lives that the same things will happen to us. We must remember that He never wavered.
Love means sacrifice:
- It hurts sometimes
- It costs you something, that’s why people don’t do it!
- It takes effort and calls you to humble yourself
- It requires forgiveness

When He was reviled and insulted, He did not revile or offer insult in return; [when] He was abused and suffered, He made no threats [of vengeance]; but he trusted [Himself and everything] to Him Who judges fairly. 1 Peter 2: 23
Certainly we can follow Jesus’ example of love through disappointments, sufferings, insults and hard times. We must persevere through it all.
When we rid ourselves of the “what about me” mentality and instead overcome evil with good, God will reward us. He will always take care of his people.

We must understand that there will be times of sacrifice in our lives for the sake of love. However, we must know that sacrifice ALWAYS brings reward!
Our perseverance and obedience will pay off.
Stay tuned for the conclusion, next week:
