4 Tips on Choosing What to Wear to Black Tie Event

With just one day before I attend the 2nd Annual lift: Detroit Gala taking place at the Detroit Historical Museum, I figured I'd give you all a sneak peek of my look for the evening and also give you a few tips on what to wear to a black tie affair. Certainly, I'm too excited! After all, what girl doesn't look forward to playing dress up?! Figuring out what to wear to a black tie gala isn't that hard after all.

1. Wear a cocktail dress or gown. Ladies, when preparing your look for a black tie event, opt for a cocktail dress or long gown.

2. Keep accessories light. Remember to keep your accessories light by choosing only one or two statement pieces. For instance if you wear statement earrings, choose to leave the statement necklace at home this time. As you don't won't to over do it.

3. Minimalist Shoes. Opt for a minimal heel or sandal that will be comfortable and fashionable and choose a clutch that matches your dress or one that makes a statement yet will not compete with your overall look.  

4) Be Polished. Your overall look should be classy, elegant and minimal, if you can splurge opt to get your hair and makeup done professionally. This will add to the finesse of your complete look.
